About Seventh-day Adventists

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a mainstream Protestant church with approximately 19 million members worldwide, including more than one million members in North America. The Seventh-day Adventist Church seeks to enhance quality of life for people everywhere and to let people know that Jesus is coming again soon.

Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone.

When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time to complete His plan of salvation and take His people to heaven. Adventists are among the believers who look forward to that day.

Adventists believe that God is concerned with the quality of human life, and that everything—the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us—is part of His plan. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him.

History
In 1998, a small group of families led by Pastor John Lu from Loma Linda Chinese SDA church started the Chinese ministry work as a Sabbath school branch in San Diego. Through Pastor Lu’s strong faith in God and commitment to overcome long commute, this group gradually grew and stabilized.
In 2000, the group approached San Diego Clairemont church for a better place to worship and accepted the advice from Conference (SECC) to join few remaining members and tried to revive the church. During this period, the Chinese group never forgot its founding mission to spread Gospel to the Chinese in San Diego and continued this effort under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Huong. He and his wife Ruth volunteered all his time and effort every Sabbath came from Loma Linda and helped to grow and lead this Chinese group. There were several Chinese members baptized through public evangelisms held during that time.

In October 4 2008, the Chinese group decided to come out of San Diego Clairemont church as an effort to focus better its mission to spread Gospel to community in San Diego. The Loma Linda Chinese SDA church board approved to accept San Diego Chinese SDA Fellowship (SDCF) as an outreach program on September of 2008. Since then, Pastor Matthew Yuen of Loma Linda Chinese church now leads the group. Many Friday night bible study groups, youth CARE groups and campus ministry at University of California San Diego were organized to grow the fellowship. Outreach camps for new youths from UCSD were also organized to connect their relationship with God. All these efforts resulted in many baptisms.

Since the end of 2012, a senior retired pastor,  Po-Wen Li and his wife Mrs. A.S. Lee from Hong Kong Conference overcame their advanced age to commute from Loma Linda and volunteered to help SDCF every Sabbath. With their faithful walks with God in many areas like church pastoring, education and administration experiences, SDCF has received new revival and great blessings from God to continue its mission.
